From the first time I met Danna & David in the Starbucks at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago, I could feel something electric between them. I loved the back and forth banter and the perfect synergy these two have. Maybe it reminded me a bit about the way I felt the first time I met my husband… we are like opposites, but also exactly alike at the same time, and I think that’s how I would describe Danna & David. These two have a beautiful love story that took years to fully happen, and then when it happened, it was fast and intense. The way they told their story as they toasted to their guests… we were all a little misty. Danna and I have also decided in our next life that we’re going to have a weekly coffee date and most likely be neighbors;))) I admire you both so much Danna & David. I wish you the absolute best as you start your new adventure together. Cheers to LOVE!
Corrie and Dan… they are effortless together, sweet, fun. They’re the kind of couple you’d want to to have a standing date to play cards with on Thursday nights. Corrie always reminds me of sunshine. I’m pretty sure that I said that when I blogged their engagement session too, but it’s just so true. When she walks in a room you just feel the whole place brighten up. Dan is just the kindest, most easy going guy… and truly appreciates Corrie. They’re the kind of couple that makes you believe in happily ever.
I truly appreciate the amazing vendors I was able to work with:
Yes, I’m on a roll this week!! I couldn’t resist a third wedding post this week and thought we’d go into the weekend with a bang by sharing this gorgeous Cantigny Park celebration.
Kelly & John had a day that was flawless. They got ready on different floors of John’s parents home, and the excitement was palpable. Plus, check out the cool photo of the bridal party on different floors of the house! It was taken before the bride & groom had seen each other yet and was such a fun idea they had. Kelly & John have such a nice mixture of being best friends and truly obviously still crushing on one another! I loved the little ways that they show love and respect to one another. When they exchanged love notes to each other during their first look, they were generous enough to share the words with me ahead of time… my favorite quote was one of John’s… “A lifetime together lies shortly ahead.” I know he means it.
I admire you two so much Kelly & John. You two are perfect together and I feel so privileged to have been a part of your day.

Let me tell you… Meagan & Mark’s wedding day was filled with so many teeny perfect moments, sweet details, and so much family love that I had a HARD time weeding down this post… it could have been easily three times as long!! These two have a special bond and love for each other. Meagan’s laugh is seriously my favorite… she has joy coming out of every inch of her. The way Mark looks at Meagan too… it’s what makes me tear up behind the wall of my lens. Thank goodness it’s there!! haha Thank you two for allowing me to be a part of your day!!
Seriously, these two… SO CUTE!! Andrea was just the best bride… so calm, so excited but at peace at the same time. I was seriously smitten all day with the beauty of this wedding. Not only are Andrea and Jeff wonderful, but I truly enjoyed shooting at White Eagle Golf Club. The grounds, the staff, the location… perfect. Can we take a moment to pay homage to Andrea’s bridal style too… the shoes, dress, hair… flawless.
Andrea & Jeff, may you continue to have the joy in your life together that was so evident on your wedding day!
Bill & Lezlie’s celebration was personal, deep, meaningful… joy filled. I could feel the emotion surrounding the day like a cashmere blanket. Their day took place at their breathtaking home on Lake Michigan surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their children were also an integral part of the day and you could see the happiness and pride they both had when they looked at their parents. I also was thrilled to work with an incredibly talented team for the day. Florist Cornelia McNamera made the day come to life with lush floral arrangements that filled the air with the most lovely fragrances. Caterer Elaina Vazquez of Boutique Bites also dazzled with a feast fit for a king.
So y’all, yes, I’m still catching up on my blogging from last year… and above is a super sweet day I shot last July.
Have you ever met someone and their warmth and kindness just initially left you with a cheery outlook the rest of the day? That’s how both Andrea & Andrea (you read that right! Same name!!) were separately and together the first time we met. They both have infectious laughs and a really sweet way of making each other smile.
These two actually were actually legally unionized July 7, 2011, but wanted to wait and celebrate in a big way with all of their closest family and friends on their 10th anniversary as a couple. Their wedding had a cherry blossom theme which symbolized eternal love… this was so meaningful to me realizing we were celebrating 10 years for them. Being married just 3 years I realize that with every year new challenges come your way, new discoveries come both personally and collectively… and to be together no longer becomes an afterthought- it’s something you fight for, desire and decide. Speaking of challenges, Andrea B. lost her father a mere month before their wedding, and because Andrea K. had also lost her father, they decided to wear photos of their dads close to their hearts in their bouttineire and bouquet respectively. In every part of the day, it was obvious that this couple is surrounded by so much LOVE. It’s probably because that’s what they give, but still it was completely touching… from the borrowed veil, the jars that family and friends’ collected to line their aisle, to all of their mothers, sisters, brother, and niece sitting at the head table in lieu of a bridal party. We all laughed through the toasts, teared up through the slideshow, and were dazzled at the end of the night with their spectacular choreographed first dance.
In closing, I’ll state the obvious. I would have to have my head in the sand to not recognize that weddings like Andrea & Andrea’s are a hot political topic right now. Trust, me… I knew it when I had to stay up almost all night monitoring comments when I posted their preview photos a year ago, because a few people had decided to leave their ‘opinions’ under the photos… and I didn’t want my wonderful, sweet clients to have those comments clouding their wedding joy. Well, that, and the private messages telling me what a disappointment I was and that they would no longer be following my work…(oy vey!)
You can call me naive… but to be honest, the political jargon often leaves me scratching my head. The politics that I worry about are more along the lines of taxes and boring beauracracy… not things like love. I am so thankful that I had parents that taught me not to label people. When I was a little girl, those labels were more simple…. rich, poor, handicapped, popular, nerdy, pretty, ugly. I was taught me that people are not labels, that people are PEOPLE. I think labeling must make some people feel safe. They might feel as if by labeling someone they have no responsibility to them. The truth is that labels are just a wall that keep us from realizing the humanity of the person next to us. We are all a part of this beautiful web of life. We have the same fears, loves, joys and sadnesses. The celebration I photographed, really, was no different than all of the other couples I photograph… two people, in love, with families that care about them and a future that they are excited about. I feel privileged to call you not only clients, but friends Andrea & Andrea. Thank you for being beautiful… YOU.
