Summer in Chicago

I was sitting here today looking at the buds outside my office window finally opening their shells and blooming for the rest of us to enjoy.

It all makes me think of how excited I am for summer in our city.  Chicago is one of best places to be in the spring and summer… the colors, the energy… it’s like we all open our shells and blossom just like the buds.  This engagement session in Lincoln Park last summer is just what I’m talking about… bring the summer shooting ON!

You can see more from Corrie & Dan’s session HERE.

Kate & Matt- Engaged

I think if I was to define what the word “couple” truly means… I’d have to say it would be two people in this wide world that complement each other and bring out the best in one another.  This is Kate & Matt.  Also, do you see how gorgeous Kate’s smile is?  She flashes it and the whole world lights up!  Can’t wait for your wedding next year you two<3

Anne - These are awesome!!! Love the laying on the blanket ones! :)

Ali V - I love the last picture too! All of them are wonderful – you guys look like you are having so much fun :)

Sara Angel - The pictures turned out great! Love the ones of you laughing. Congratulations again! xoxo

Melissa Costello - LOVE these photos! My favorite is the last one of Matt and Kate laying next to each other. That photo to me best highlights their wonderful relationship.

Miranda & Vincent- Lemont, Illinois

I have developed a habit of narrating my posts at the end lately, or maybe not at all and just letting the photos speak for themselves… but I feel as if that approach just wouldn’t do Miranda & Vincent’s last October day justice.  Miranda and Vince are both artists… Miranda a writer/poet and Vince a musician.  They had the simplest wedding day I have probably ever shot, but let me tell you… when it comes to wedding days less can most definitely be more.  I started out the 8 hour day with Miranda for 4 hours of it.  Miranda chose to get ready at the cozy little 3rd floor apartment that she and Vincent share.  Being surrounded by the familiar was important to her and she wanted me there to capture this time as she had family coming in an out all day celebrating and wishing her well.  The family members were also coming to pray with her before the new chapter of her life with Vince was to commence.  The moment where I almost let the waterworks take over myself was when her flower girls and ring bearer (all family members as well) knelt to pray with her.  What is it they say about the prayers of children?  The day turned out to be a rainy one, but Miranda and Vince smiled on as only a couple with the sunshine of love in their hearts can do.

The peacock theme was chosen because when Vince first spotted Miranda

at a Halloween party she was dressed as… you guessed it…

a peacock;)  The rest is history!

For her “something old” Miranda wore here mother’s veil…

and of course, it’s obvious what she chose for her “something blue”

Ashley - You captured the day beautifully! And I learned a few things from this post, too! :)

Miranda Innaimo - Kina, you helped capture one of the most beautiful days of my life. For that, I will always thank you.

This post even brought on my own waterworks.

Cheers love,
MI

Emilia & Brian- Santa Barbara, California

I was so blessed to be a part of this editorial shoot during my time at United 2013 conference.  Christianne Taylor did an incredible job coordinating the shoot at Knapp’s Castle, and my good friend and fellow Chicago wedding photographer, Emilia Schobeiri (www.emiliajanephotography.com) simply ROCKED as a model.  As a side note, isn’t that dress TO DIE FOR?  After a week or learning at the conference, sharing, and getting to express myself fully as an artist shooting in the California sunshine, I’m feeling ready for the 2013 wedding season right around the corner! Bring it!

Laura Gordon - These images are so beautiful Kina!

admin - Heck yes Gina;)!

Gina M. - Can I be the president of your fan club?

Lauren Wakefield - These are GORGEOUS!!! And that Emilia…boy can she model!!! So beautiful. :)

Now and then I pace my place
I can’t retrace how I got here
I cheat the light to check my face
It’s slightly harder than last year

And all at once it gets hard to take
It gets hard to fake what I won’t be
Cause one of these days I’ll be born and raised
And it’s such a waste to grow up lonely

I still have dreams, they’re not the same
They don’t fly as high as they used to
I saw my friend, he’s in my head
And he said, “You don’t remember me, do you?”

Then all at once it gets hard to take
It gets hard to fake what I won’t be
Cause one of these days I’ll be born and raised
And it’s such a waste to grow up lonely

I still got time, I still got faith
I call on both of my brothers
I got a mom, I got a dad
But they do not have each other

So line on up, and take your place
And show your face to the morning
Cause one of these days you’ll be born and raised
And it all comes on without warning
