My poor blog… so neglected lately. In fact, this post will demonstrate just how much I’ve neglected my online web diary… since the images you will see below are from a beautiful event I attended in APRIL! I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
I believe deeply in education & have had an insatiable desire to learn since my earliest memory. I think it’s all my Mom’s “fault” (a fact of which I know she’s proud) and maybe a bit because I was born a geek (something I’m oddly proud of!). As a child we spent more time in the library than almost anywhere else year after year. Whether it was an obsession with sketching (age 10) or cooking (age 16) or just random biographies and classic books, I learned early that if you wanted to be something or know something, it’s all within your reach… the sky is the limit!
When I went into business as a photographer, Google had replaced the library as a daily staple in my life, and my hours were spent learning and learning and learning. I thought my mind would burst with everything I had learned and the ridiculous amount of knowledge I STILL needed to absorb. I quickly realized that this journey is like any other journey in life though… you stop growing and you start dying. I committed in my heart to always be a student.
Because of this commitment I decided that I’d like to start attending at least one workshop a year. One of the labs I’ve worked with in the past referred the Jen Huang Workshop to me, and I decided to check it out. Jen is a hybrid film/digital shooter, and that’s really something I’m always working toward. I decided it looked like something that would benefit me, so I signed up! What I didn’t know, is not only is Jen’s art beautiful and her technical skills completely solid, but she’s a FORCE OF NATURE! What a business woman! I can honestly say, I came away from the workshop inspired, renewed, and (as an added bonus) with some new and awesome friends!
After a morning in Jen’s super chic Upper East Side NYC studio learning the ins and outs of Jen’s shooting methods, business model, and a talk from super blogger Amanda of Ruffled Blog, we headed to a delicious lunch. All fueled from lunch, we headed to Central Park to meet some of Jen’s friends/business associates that are all REAL COUPLES! Can you believe how lovely they are?
Thank you Jen for a beautiful day…
SERIOUSLY!? Some of the most stunning floral arrangements I’ve ever seen… Credit to the amazing Saipua.
