There were two things I told Caleb at the end of our session… “your momma needs to know she raised you right”, and “I may need professional help!” lol You’ll understand by the end of this post…
Caleb is an awesome kid! The day for his senior session near Omaha, Nebraska dawned warm and cloudy. We were so excited because it had rained for two days straight before the session, and I had a small window of time I was going to be in his town. I found out Caleb loved to drive big machinery… his church just finished a building project, and he was instrumental in helping on work days and had developed a taste for the equipment. After spotting a field with a big ole something or another that looked like a perfect piece of machinery for his session, I directed him there. As we walked out to the middle of the field I noticed my feet started to get really heavy… then I looked down… my shoes were about twice their size caked with mud. I tried to shake some of the mud off and trudged on. No biggie, I thought! We got to the place I desired and I started shooting. You have to know me to know when I shoot photos I get in a ZONE! Tunnel vision. So when I suddenly stepped in a new spot I wasn’t really aware. I tried to move my feet. Nothing. I try one foot at a time… NOTHING. Now I start to laugh hilariously as Caleb looked on in disbelief… “are you stuck?” I just keep laughing and stepped out of my shoes. I started to walk as the mud caked on my feet… as we walk back to the car we are both laughing uncontrollably.
After a good foot washing in the bathroom and a quick (barefoot) trip to the market for flip flops, we were back on our way. The fun wasn’t over though. We completed Caleb’s session, but not until getting my car stuck on the side of the road near a field, a refusal when asking a suspicious farmer to use his property ( first time for me!!! haha, usually my eyelash batting works wonders;} ), and a climb over two barbed wire fences.
What a day! All of this, Caleb took in stride, helping me like a gentleman and laughing right along. To say the least, this was a fun and unforgettable session. And yes, I may need professional help;)
