Nicole & Patrick {Wedding}11.19.10

“Do you ever put your arms out and just spin and spin and spin? Well, that’s what love is like. Everything inside of you tells you to stop before you fall, but you just keep going” ~Ho Su

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to have an Engagement Session with Nicole and Patrick back in August (view here), and in September, they had their wedding down in a beautiful log cabin in Tennessee with just a few family and close friends there. Lovely. Once they got back to Chicago, the real party was on, and what you see below are some photos from their Chicago wedding reception. Patrick and Nicole: I wish you all the happiness in the world as you start this journey together!

Bob & Sherri {Married}11.06.10

Bob & Sherri planned a small un-fussy affair for their wedding. Simple and sweet. Their love story is another story… very sweet, and not even close to simple!

It all starts 29 years ago. Bob and Sherri meet, fall madly in love, and get MARRIED. Fast forward 16 years, 3 sons… and they decided to throw in the towel, and divorced. Sherri says she just couldn’t stand the sight of Bob! haha!! But even though their marriage was over, the kids, and their arguments kept a dialogue going… they never got out of each other’s lives, and for some reason, neither moved on to someone new. It took THIRTEEN years, but their hearts slowly softened; they got a little older. Their kids were grown, and they realized it… they were STILL meant to be. So, this is their second marriage… to each other!

I’m just tickled to death about the ways love takes us. May love continue to take you down the path of happiness Bob & Sherri… and may you grow old together with a smile in your hearts and on your faces.

Arriving… and err… leaving?? Not so fast wise guy!

Pretty Bride

Anticipation!!

I love this… Their son, Bobby, walked Sherri down the aisle, and the other two sons, Tony & Nate lit the candles.

And the two shall become “one”

I adore the happiness on Sherri’s face right here… surrounded by the ones she loves the most.

Chris & Meg {Couples}10.27.10

Young love… there’s just something about it. The stars in their eyes, the little smiles, the tenderness. Yep, I love it too! Chris & Meg have this “it factor”. So in love, and so great together. Couples like this make me happy to be a photographer so I get to be a part of their story. Chris & Meg are also VERY good sports. We had a little bit of rain, but they went with it, and we decided to take some outdoor shots plus use our local library. Fun stuff. Below are a few of my favorites.

Sarah & Steve {Couples Session}10.16.10

Sarah & Steve… the first thing that comes to mind when I think of how to describe them as a couple, is that they are the kind of people that give of themselves to others. Not only in their chosen professions (nursing), but in their spirits, their smiles. Sarah is the perfect mixture of country girl and city girl. She looks sophisticated and chic, but is always in her kitchen, cooking, baking and welcoming others.

I am so happy that these two found eachother… and even more happy that they will be welcoming an addition to their family next year! When we first scheduled this couples session, Sarah had just found out that she was expecting a baby. I think you can see the joy in their eyes. Thank you Sarah and Steve for being you!

Mark & Mary {Newlyweds}10.10.10

First of all, I love newlywed sessions! I have several booked for the next month, and I’m finding that not only are they fun, but they make a lot of sense! Whether it’s a day after the wedding, a few weeks, or even years… it might just be something to consider. Why?

  1. Every girl wants an excuse to get back in her wedding dress.
  2. As a couple, you’re not rushed, stressed, or wishing you could just get to the hotel!
  3. You can control the circumstances, relax about the weather, and have plenty of time to enjoy yourself.

Mark & Mary were just adorable. The way they look at each other is proof that the butterfly feeling still exists:) They met in college, and have been together ever since through thick and thin. They were married in California about a month ago, and I was thrilled to be able to catch a little bit of their wedded bliss after the honeymoon. How fun. And, this couple has LUCK! If you see the horse in these photos… we literally had a random man, ride up and ask us if we wanted to ride the horse. NO JOKE! Thank you Mark & Mary… for being you!

Justin & Emily {A Maternity Shoot}09.30.10

There are few things I think are more beautiful than a “mommy to be”. Combine that with an adoring husband, a sunny afternoon, and a teal barn… and you have Justin & Emily’s special shoot. I love Emily like she is a sister. She is a person with a heart to make the world a better place. She is intelligent & beautiful inside and out. Justin and her are a perfect match, and I admire them both. This little baby boy is going to be one lucky fellow! Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

Mike & Jen {Couples Shoot}09.27.10

Like I eluded to in my last “sneak preview” post about Mike & Jen- they are a very special couple to me. I got to know Jen several years ago, and immediately tried to set her up with Mike. She refused. ha!! Fast forward a couple of months, several more attempts by me, and even more attempt by Mike, and now… they are married!

I was thrilled when Jen asked me if I could take photos of them at the location that they got engaged less than a year ago. As newlyweds, it was fun to see their obvious connection and the way they really complement each other.

I love you guys!

Sneak Peak {Mike & Jen}09.26.10

Today’s couples shoot was extra special to me. When Jen called me up asking me to take pictures of them at the spot they got engaged I was so excited… because… I actually set them up on their first date! Yep, Kina, the matchmaker. Well, you’ll be hearing more about this awesome couple when I blog my favorites from their shoot, but here’s a sneak peak to whet your appetite. Enjoy!

Nicole & Patrick (Part One)09.08.10

I say part one, because Nicole and Patrick booked a double shoot. We did not only engagement pictures, but family pictures with Dylan, their adorable 7 year old son on the same day! So, segment one is the engagement pictures, and stay tuned for the family pictures to come.

Do you know that happy peace that comes when you snuggle on the couch with the one you love? That is the chemistry I sensed between Patrick and Nicole! They go together like peanut butter and jelly, or, in my language… coffee and cream!! I just felt so good being around two people, not only so obviously in love, but so well suited for one another. Nicole is a girl with a zest for life! She is full of fun, and has a beautiful smile that she flashes often. Patrick is a sweetheart, who seems to put Nicole and Dylan first in his life. What a lucky couple.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:

Nicole works as a dancer at Walt Disney World, so of course we had to include the ears!

Thank you Nicole & Patrick for letting me share in your love story!

And the winner is…09.01.10

First of all, I must say, I was so excited about each couple that submitted their story for the chance to win a free photo-shoot. Your stories were cute, fun and inspirational. I was also overwhelmed with the interest in something like this as well, so for those of you who’s name was not chosen, I have a special promotion coming up for you. Stay posted, because this Friday I’ll be sharing the details; and I think you’ll be just as excited as I am!

So without further ado…this morning, the names of all the couples who entered the drawing for the free photo-shoot were all written down, and put in the proverbial hat (really just shuffled around on a table while I closed my eyes!). And the luck of the draw goes to… Steve & Sarah Pritchard! First of all, these two are a beautiful couple. I have had the privilege of knowing them both separately since I was a teenager. I will also never forget how excited the Pritchard family was when Steve met Sarah. Steve’s little sister Miranda was one of my best friends in high school, and even though we were in college by the time the two got together, I knew about Steve and Sarah, and how much everyone thought they were a great match. Sarah, who I first met through my friend Rachel, is a beautiful person inside and out. I know that is said about many people, but when it comes to Sarah, it really sums her up in my opinion. Below is their story in Sarah’s words.

The story of how Steve and I met has a sad beginning, but an incredibly happy ending. In the spring of 2002, my grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer. He lived in Indiana, and we brought him to Ohio to live with us so we could take care of him in his last days. After his passing, we brought him back to Indiana for his funeral. I was only supposed to stay in Indiana for a week. My mom convinced me to stay an extra week to relax since we had been through so much. On the day I was supposed to leave, one of my friends, Liz, called me up and invited me to spend some time together that night. I told her I was leaving in fifteen minutes to drive back to Ohio, and I would not be able to come over. We agreed to meet up next time. After I got off the phone, I started thinking, “I’ve already stayed an extra week. What’s one more day?” So I called Liz up and said I was leaving the next day and would be able to get together that evening. That was the night I met Steve, who was a friend of my friend Liz and her husband Adam. We exchanged email addresses that night. He emailed me a message and included his phone number. Being the old fashioned girl that I was, I emailed him back and included my phone number. After a few emails, we started chatting online. One night, my computer went offline in the middle of a conversation, and I was unable to sign back on, so I broke down and called him. This started hours’ long conversations each night, and constant texting all day. He wanted to meet my family right away and drove to Ohio to do so. Then we started travelling back and forth to each other’s home states every other weekend. This quickly turned into every weekend one of us was taking the ten to twelve hour round trip drive to see each other. We started dating in July. He asked me to marry him in October and we became engaged. We were married in April of 2003. He helped put me through nursing school and now I’m doing the same for him. I love being in love!

Sarah & Steve, I can’t wait to continue telling your love story through pictures!

Hi Y’all!
