    Thank you for stopping by to read my blog!

    I am overjoyed to be a wedding photographer, but more than that… I love being an artist. My camera is my brush, simply painting the beauty I see around me so that the feeling that sparked in us all at that moment can become immortalized and relived… again and again.

    If you dropped by my studio in the Chicago suburbs, you’d probably find me with a Starbucks iced coffee in hand and my sweet taffy colored puppy napping at my feet. Some things that make my heart swell are my husband Jonathan, light, love, pastels, crystal, shoes, antiques, fashion magazines, and anything French. I can’t wait to meet you…

Lauren & Steve {Chicago Wedding Photographer}

Ok, since the cat will be out of the bag once you realize I put NINETY FIVE images into this blog post, I’ll begin by admitting it.  I’m a bit obsessed with Lauren & Steve’s wedding.  When asked by brides what makes wedding photos great, I inevetably end up on the topic of creating a wedding that expresses who YOU TWO are.  Not what the latest trend is.  Not what the most reasonable or hot location is.  Just an expression of you.  This would have to be an overall explanation of Lauren and Steve’s day.  Lauren is a girl who is in love with the stage.  She’s acted in dramas and loves in her spare time to photograph cool things.  She shares my love of the analog process and shoots a lot of film.  Steve is a guy with an awesome sense of humor and a love for WWE…more of that in the post. HAHA  As a couple they have this perfect balance of tenderness and hilarity.

Photos were so important to Lauren that she created amazing opportunities for them.  We shot their first look photos in the morning in their apartment courtyard and because a first look helps the day’s schedule go smoothly, we were able to get all the bridal party shots in well before dark (which in November is like 4:30 ugh!)

Let me mention just a few more things I loved about Lauren & Steve’s wedding and I’m just going to list them so I don’t bore you with 10 more paragraphs of gushing:

Lauren’s vintage inspired yet timeless gown, the stylish guests, a lovely welcoming family, adorable British grandparents, a sixpence in her shoe… from grandma, AUTUMN COLORS!!, the homemade fabric corsages and boutinnaires, centerpieces of the places that were special to them, a baseball to sign at every table, real record being played by the DJ, and some of the most EPIC FIRST DANCES YOU’VE EVER SEEN… ok I really could go on and on.

I wish you all the happiness in the world Lauren & Steve!

Chase & Liam {Chicago Newborn Photographer}

I know this post will be difficult to put into words.  I truly wish I could open up my heart and let you see what it is I feel inside when I look at the faces of my very new nephews.  I could start by telling you how much a adore the nephews I already had… Conner and Hayden are some of my favorite people in the world.  I could hang out with them; drawing, playing Batman and eating hotdogs and macaroni and cheese all day long.  I SWEAR!  I could start by telling you that I cried the day Sabrina and Jeremy surprised me in my bathrobe at home with a sonogram… that had two little specks of baby on it.  I could tell you how my sister is my best friend and how I feel like her kids are in a part my own.

I’ll just tell you… the miracle of these two babies awes me every day.  I’m sure all of you that have children close to you have felt this very singular awe.  Not just the awe of them coming into the world, but the way they swell your heart until you think it might burst.

I love you Chase and Liam!  I can’t wait to get to know you better and better as you grow up into little men… kisses and hugs forever.

Nancy - These photo’s capture sweet details of their newborn beginnings..I just love them…mrs. musser

Delia - WOW!!! These are beautiful! <3

So I just got home from the most divine vacation.  (Pictures soon coming!!)  Was it divine because of pure white sandy beaches?  Or maybe because of all the uninterrupted time with my husband?  Or… just because it was a VACATION.  I needed a vacation:)

Florida happened to be 80 degrees every day except for one… and then it was 70!  I wasn’t even sure I was coming home… and then I thought of my doggie… and my awesome-cold-braving clients!

Below is my coldest session of the year to date… until tomorrow (haha, that one will involve ice skating!!)  It wasn’t so cold that the heart shaped ivy was blown away with the winter chill yet.  And it wasn’t cold enough to quench Brooke & Tony’s love:)

Brooke is a photographer in the local area… check her out http://greeneyesimaging.blogspot.com/!  I’m always flattered and excited when another photographer asks me to capture their memories. Brooke & Tony met through friends and are two amazing people.  They both possess kindness and patience (we got lost on our way to the first location!)  They have an easy going natural affection… nothing is remotely forced, just very real and very SWEET!

Stay tuned for their amazing FARM wedding in May!!!!

Beth Ann - I am so happy for Brooke! You did a great job capturing their love, Kina.

Lesley & Mike {Chicago Engagement Photography}

I’m starting to think that the proverbial “Mother Nature” and “Father Time” are in cahoots to play a big trick on us all because this year and last we have had the most beautiful Indian Summer that has lasted into November.  Photographers are like farmers I guess… at least I am and like a farmer I follow weather patterns relentlessly!  I’m really just trying to squeeze every last bit of warmth and sunshine I can for my photos before I hibernate for the Chicago winter;)

It was just such a day for Lesley and Mike when they drove down from Wisconsin for their session and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  To give a little background (Lesley and Mike might have to correct me on this one) but I think they told me they were voted “most fun” couple in highschool… anyway, if they weren’t, they could be.  They have a fun, silly connection.  Like a beloved well worn heirloom I have a feeling that theirs will be a comforting love that will stand the test of time.  The saying goes… Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat. ~Joanne Woodward

A big thanks to the folks at the Plainfield fishing resort for letting us use their property!

Lesley and Mike even brought their gorgeous doggie- Loki!

Yummy light…

The finale!!

Thanks again Lesley and Mike!  XO

Katelyn {Chicago Portrait Photography}

Katelyn… I can’t say enough good things about this girl.  I think I have a pretty good idea of her greatness too… after all, she’s FAMILY:)  Katelyn is my husband’s baby sister.  Being the youngest of the 6 Wicks’ kids you’d think she might be a wee bit spoiled, and on the contrary, she’s one of the most unselfish kids I know.  She’s always doing something for someone else.  She has many close friends and she loves everyone.  She is the kind of person that sees the “gold glittering” in people and I think they rise to the occasion to be their best around her.  Positive energy = Katelyn Wicks.

I was so happy to get to take her  senior pictures when they were in town last.  I’m thrilled to see how the next chapter of her life unfolds in college and beyond… Love you Katelyn!

The morning started out with the most lovely pink sunrise…

and FROST on the flowers!!

I love how the red ivy brings out Katy’s beautiful blue eyes!

These next few photos are SOOOOO Katelyn.  Such a cutie!
