    Thank you for stopping by to read my blog!

    I am overjoyed to be a wedding photographer, but more than that… I love being an artist. My camera is my brush, simply painting the beauty I see around me so that the feeling that sparked in us all at that moment can become immortalized and relived… again and again.

    If you dropped by my studio in the Chicago suburbs, you’d probably find me with a Starbucks iced coffee in hand and my sweet taffy colored puppy napping at my feet. Some things that make my heart swell are my husband Jonathan, light, love, pastels, crystal, shoes, antiques, fashion magazines, and anything French. I can’t wait to meet you…

The Vintage Chic Series {Part One}

This love story starts a long time ago.  I was a very little girl when my affair with vintage kitsch started. I was a little bit of a nerd I think, and most certainly a bookworm.  I would haunt antique stores and decorated my bedroom in what I considered the height of Victorian vintage back then which was white wicker furniture, a Laura Ashley comforter, and old tea cups.  My favorite authors were all women; Lucy Maud Montgomery, Elizabeth George Speare, Louisa May Alcott & Maude Hart Lovelace, and there was one common thread.  The stories were all of eras gone by.  I loved the romance of the heroines and would sketch what I thought they looked like in great detail.

Though I grew up and developed a more keen sense of modern style to mix with my vintage love roots, I never lost my passion for “old” things.  I feel like vintage accessories mixed with modern elements are the perfect things to make a timeless portrait.  A work of art.  I hope in this series of articles, you are able to find some inspiration from something I’m very passionate about.  Maybe it will give you the gumption to try something new, or just give you a sigh as you remember the things that make you smile!

Lace, Ruffles & Flowers… yes, this is part one of Vintage Chic.  Before I went full time with my photography, I was a manager at a well know Chicago bridal gown shop.  Every time a new designer’s line would come in for a weekend trunk show, I couldn’t get enough of the fine fabrics, the details… the lace, ruffles and the flowers. When it came time for my own wedding, my dress was a simple a-line boat necked gown, but there was this Enzoani belt I HAD to have on it.  And… you guessed it; it was made of lace, ruffles, and flowers.

There’s just something so feminine and timeless in these details.  This is why they are “101″ (in my humble opinion) in modern vintage fashion.  Lastly, a big thank you to my beautiful model, my sister Sabrina, who agreed to pose for the first of the articles in the Vintage Chic series. Isn’t she stunning?!

I’m always excited when October 1st hits.  I love the weather, the leaves, and the anticipation of the upcoming holiday season.  I wanted to give you all heads up about a portrait special I’m running during this season.  Though it’s called a “Christmas Special”, your portraits can be just fall family portraits, or even some great memories of your kids in their cute Halloween costumes.  It’s a just a nice mini package. Short and sweet.  You can click on the ad below to see it full size, or print it!

Justin & Emily {A Maternity Shoot}

There are few things I think are more beautiful than a “mommy to be”.  Combine that with an adoring husband, a sunny afternoon, and a teal barn… and you have Justin & Emily’s special shoot.  I love Emily like she is a sister.  She is a person with a heart to make the world a better place.  She is intelligent & beautiful inside and out.  Justin and her are a perfect match, and I admire them both.  This little baby boy is going to be one lucky fellow!  Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

Carrie Thomas - These are simply amazing!! They make me smile every time I look at them -so inspiring.

| Landon {Newborn Session} - [...] Landon was all sighs, sleepiness and sweetness when I photographed him.  I also got to photograph Landon’s mommy and daddy before he made his entrance into this world and you can see those pictures HERE. [...]

Conner & Hayden {Christmas Portraits}

These are my favorite little guys in the world… they are my nephews!  Of course, I’m a little biased, but I think they are simply scrumptious.  I love these two, and I hope you love their sweet little christmas portraits as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Precious faced Hayden.

I call Conner my little monkey:) I don’t know why, it’s just my pet name for him.
